The 5 things you didn’t know about botox!

Botox, Everyone has heard of it by now. You probably know it only as a handy tool to make wrinkles disappear and a angry or tired look counteract! The three most common areas for botox are the forehead lines, the frown line and crow’s feet. But botox doesn’t just work for lines and wrinkles. Did you know that it can help with many more complaints and problems? The basic things about botox are often well known and you can find a lot of information about it online these days, but you may well not have known these 5 things!

Botox does not work for volume loss

There is often a lot of confusion among people between fillers and botox. Botox is a muscle relaxant and is used to calm an overactive muscle. This calms the skin, preventing the formation of deep and fine lines. So with this you can counteract, for example, forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet or a deep frown line. For filling volume loss, such as a sunken face, lipfillers, deep nose-lip fold or a deep tear trough fillers are used.

Botox is not immediately visible

Unlike fillers, the result of botox is not immediately visible. This is because Botox must first take effect and only begins to work after about 48 hours. The final result will be visible after a maximum of two weeks. If you visit us for the first time for a Botox treatment, we always like to see you back for a check-up. That way we can check with you whether the desired result has been achieved.

The effect of botox is temporary and works locally

The effect of botox is always temporary because botox is always broken down naturally by the body. When you repeat a botox treatment every 3 to 6 months you train your muscles to work less hard. This allows you to enjoy your botox treatment longer and longer! In addition, botox works locally and only affects the injected area.

Botox is not only used for wrinkles

Botox is not only used to counteract wrinkles! What many people don’t know is that botox is also used against excessive sweating, dimples in the chin, clenching jaws and gritting teeth, headache complaints, downturned corners of the mouth or drooping eyebrows. Similarly, when a sagging neckline is the result of overworking muscles, botox treatment can be a solution. In addition, botox is also used medically for such things as certain muscle disorders, spasms and in some cases to treat scars.

There is baby botox

You may have heard about babybotox! But what exactly is it? Babybotox is a treatment with a lower dose of botulinum toxin (botox). It is the same drug, only smaller amounts are used. Babybotox is also called mini-botox because of its lower dosage. The reason for choosing babybotox depends on the desired result and will always have to be discussed with the cosmetic doctor treating you.
