Want to know more about (chemical) peels?

A peel is a form of exfoliation that involves peeling (hence the name, peeling) the top layer of the skin, so to speak. This is done using alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxy acids. Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) is a collective term for organic acids that stimulate the exfoliation of your skin and accelerate the cell cycle. Examples include glycolic acid (from sugar cane), lactic acid, mandelic acid and fruit acids. Beta hydroxy acid (BHA) is an umbrella term for a special type of organic acids.

In the cosmetic world, only salicylic acid exfoliation is used. This acid, unlike alpha hydroxy acids, is not water-soluble, but fat-soluble. That makes BHA perfect for oily and problem skin. The peels you can do at the Van Rosmalen Kliniek are called chemical peels or cosmetic peels.

This is how a peel works

A chemical peel can penetrate several layers of the skin. How deep the peel goes depends on your needs and the type of treatment our skin therapists recommend. Your skin responds to a peel by triggering different, natural repair mechanisms. That process causes skin turnover, cell renewal and skin firming.

A beautiful, natural glow

The result of a chemical or cosmetic peel is a noticeably more beautiful skin texture. You regain your fresh skin tone, pigment spots, scars, coarse pores and fine wrinkles disappear, your dermis becomes firmer due to the production of collagen and your skin is deeply cleansed. In short, a great and painless boost to your skin, which feels soft and smooth again. Through our salicylic acid peel, you will get a beautiful, natural glow.

Combination peel treatments

The depth, in which the peel penetrates, depends on the type of ingredients we use. This is determined by the indication of the peel. At the Van Rosmalen Kliniek, for example, you can do mild varieties that improve skin quality through cell renewal. With an intensive peel reduce pigmentation, fine wrinkles, acne scars, active acne and coarse pores. The complexion evens out, sebum production comes back into balance and skin texture refines. A cosmetic peeling can also be combined with botoxfillers of laser treatments. This often creates an even better result.
