Cosmeceuticals

At the Van Rosmalen Kliniek we work exclusively with skin care products from top brands, so-called cosmeceuticals. These are skin care products that address specific skin problems more effectively than the more common cosmetics. It’s halfway between regular creams you buy in stores and prescription creams. The former act primarily on the upper layer of skin, while cosmeceuticals act primarily on the deeper layers of skin. As a result, they address specific skin problems more effectively. 

What is the difference between regular creams and cosmeceuticals? The creams sold in all stores “over the counter” are also called comfort creams. Below is the overview with the differences.

• Low concentration of ingredients
• Lavishly spread without apparent side effects

Cosmeceutical skincare

• Available in a clinic
• Without much perfume, parabens and preservatives
• Ingredients stored stably in pump or vial
• Little needed for results
• High concentration of ingredients
• Visible and tangible results
• Transcutaneous release (through the skin) like a nicotine patch
• Much R&D (research and development) into the effect
