Forehead dent filling
“For a more symmetrical face.”
“For a more symmetrical face.”
You may be bothered by a hollowing, flattening or dent in the forehead. There are several reasons for the appearance of a hollowing or dent in the forehead.
When you visit our clinic, our cosmetic physicians KNMG will first determine the cause of the hollowing or dent to determine if treatment is appropriate. If you notice a sudden change in your skull shape, we recommend that you make an appointment with your doctor.
Have you always suffered from a dent in the forehead? If so, it may be due to the shape of your skull. Dents and irregularities in the skull are simply variations in anatomy. Everyone has variations in bone structure, just as everyone has a different face.
Sometimes babies are born with a skull indentation. These indentations can be caused by the birth process or by the way the baby was placed in the mother’s womb. Sometimes you don’t see any of this as an adult, but it may still bother you. Fortunately, filler treatment can help in many cases.
As we age, the skeleton shrinks and our skin loses firmness and volume. This often occurs in the region around the eyebrows. The support for the eyebrow falls away, causing the eyebrows to sag and creating a hollow, or dent, above the eyebrows.
By filling in the area around the dent above the eyebrows, the eyebrow regains support, eliminating the sagging of the eyebrows. Lines and wrinkles may also appear in the forehead due to the raising of the eyebrows. By repairing the hollowness and lines on the forehead with fillers, you get a fresher and healthier look without losing your authenticity.
Are you curious about the possibilities? Then schedule a consultation right away!
Over the years, you may notice a hollowing above your eyebrows. This is caused by the natural aging process; the skeleton shrinks and our skin loses firmness and volume. Thus, hollowing can occur in different places. For example, you can see this in sunken temples, sunken cheeks, or a hollow in the forehead above the eyebrow.
You may also have an indentation or dent in your forehead from childhood that you would like to get rid of. In this case, the aging process has nothing to do with the dent, but you may suffer from a cranial indentation.
In order to see what is causing the dent in the forehead and whether it can be filled by a filler treatment, we first make an ultrasound of the forehead during a free, no-obligation consultation.
We often use ultrasound to map the anatomy of the face. Once the indentation or dent in the forehead is located and the cause is known, a safe treatment plan can be created. Research has shown that the use of ultrasound significantly reduces the risk of filler complications. It also contributes to optimal aesthetic results.

After we receive you at our clinic, there will be a brief, preparatory conversation and we will take pictures to later see the results of before and after treatment. Then the treatment begins, where filler is placed in and around the hollow or dent through a cannula, a hollow needle. Placing filler at the site of the flattening or dent creates more volume. This allows us to fill the dent, so to speak.
We use a hyaluronic acid-based filler to create volume and beautiful contours. How much filler we use depends on the area to be treated. Because there is anesthesia in the filler, the treatment is painless and quick. The treatment takes about half an hour.
After treatment, some redness, swelling or blue discoloration may occur around the injection site. This simply goes away after a few days and can be camouflaged with some makeup. It is important not to massage the treated area for the first few days. We recommend avoiding bright sun and other beauty treatments for the days after filling the hollow or dent.
Everyone recovers differently from treatment with fillers. Generally, you can see results immediately after treatment, but after a month the results are at their best. After treatment, the hollowing, flattening or dent in the forehead will be filled and you will have a more symmetrical, more beautiful face. The area around the eyebrows also receives more support with this treatment, creating the effect of an eyebrow elevator, so to speak.
Fillers are non-permanent, or temporary. In our experience, the effect is at its best for about nine to 12 months, after which the effect will slowly fade. Do you want to enjoy the result as long as possible? Then we recommend repeating the treatment after about 12 months. Injectables can in fact give an increasingly long-lasting result when you repeat the treatment with some regularity.
Before the treatment takes place, you should first come for a free, no-obligation consultation with one of our cosmetic doctors KNMG. During the consultation we will discuss your enhancement needs and look at the anatomy of your face.
For filler treatment to fill a hollow or dent in the forehead, ultrasound is used to determine if the area can be treated. At our clinic, safety is a top priority. There is a chance that it is not safe to treat the desired area, or that the hollowing, indentation or dent in the forehead has a medical cause. In this case, we cannot treat you and recommend a visit to your doctor.
We use ultrasound more often in treatments to map the anatomy of the face. Once blood vessels and any previously placed fillers in the face are located, a safe treatment plan can be created. Research has shown that using an ultrasound significantly reduces the risk of filler complications. It also contributes to optimal aesthetic results.
Fillers fall under the category of injectables. Most fillers are based on the body’s own hyaluronic acid and will always be completely broken down again by your body. With fillers, we can correct volume loss in the face and fill wrinkles, causing them to fade or even disappear. The lines in your face soften, fewer shadows fall on your face and you get a younger, fresher look.
During a filler treatment, the filler is injected into the skin with a cannula. A cannula is a hollow needle with a blunt tip. Using a cannula minimizes the risk of bruising after treatment.
This treatment takes about half an hour.
After treatment, some redness and slight swelling may occur around the injection site. This subsides after a few days and can be camouflaged with makeup if necessary.
The results of filling a hollow or dent in the forehead last about nine to 12 months. After this, the effect slowly diminishes. This depends in part on the exact location of the indentation or dent. This is because the filler stays in place longer in areas where there is little muscle movement.
