Rosacea laser treatment

“For improved skin condition.”

What is rosacea ?

Do you seem like you are always blushing? Do you suffer from red skin on your face, mainly on your cheeks and nose? Do you try to camouflage it but it often shines through your makeup again?

Then you probably suffer from rosacea, a chronic skin condition responsible for that bright red color. Usually on the cheeks and nose, but sometimes on the chin or middle of the forehead. At first it looks like you’re blushing, but the color doesn’t go away as quickly as normal blushing. In addition to the red discoloration, there may be dilated blood vessels, or bumps, pimples and inflammation. It sometimes resembles acne because of the inflammation, but rosacea often only develops between the ages of 30 and 50 and mainly in women. Fortunately, rosacea is easily treated with laser treatment.

Rosacea The problem

Redness in the face can have several causes. Rosacea is one of them, but another common cause is couperosis. The cause of rosacea is unknown. However, it can be affected by external factors such as temperature changes, sunlight, spicy foods and irritants on the skin. There are different stages in rosacea: redness/blushing cheeks, often with small blood vessels that are easy to see, redness and small pimples or large inflammations. In some cases, there may also be rhinophyma, a thickening of the nose

Rosacea Treatment - IPL Laser Treatment The treatment

With rosacea, you see mainly diffuse redness on the face. We can safely treat this with laser/IPL. When the redness is reduced a microneedling treatment can be performed afterwards. This simulates the collagen and elastin in the skin. This makes the skin and blood vessels more resilient, making the rosacea more stable. In addition, product advice is important. The skin is incredibly sensitive and needs the right care products. A protective factor is a plus. In addition to these skin treatments to reduce rosacea, through our advice, new inflammation can be prevented. During the consultation we will discuss in detail whether you qualify for rosacea treatment. Photos are also taken so we can compare the end result. In preparation for the treatment, you are not allowed to go out in the sun for several weeks so that the skin has its own color. This is because temporarily lighter spots may appear on the skin. This also applies to microneedling.

A full facial takes about 30 minutes. There is a cooling system in the laser, making the treatment tolerable. It feels like a rubber band being shot against the skin. It is a brief heat sensation that dissipates immediately. Only the red vessels absorb the light from the laser, so the laser treats the vessels very selectively. Micropeeling (with Dermapen or enterpen) also takes about 30 minutes. An intermediate substance, hyaluronic acid, is used. The Dermapen or enterpen moves up and down and makes small channels in the skin. It feels slightly irritating and stinging on the skin, but it is well tolerated. It stimulates blood flow, hence the heat sensation

After the Rosacea treatment After the treatment

Immediately after the laser treatment, the skin may feel red and warm. The skin may also be visibly red and slightly swollen. This is all temporary. It is possible to cool the skin extra after the treatment until the worst of the heat disappears. It is important never to put ice directly on the skin: use a cool pack. When treating vessels on the nostrils and cheeks, a mini scab may appear. This is a normal process. Do not scratch, the scab should fall off on its own. The laser treatment should be repeated after 3-4 weeks. A total of about 4-6 treatments will be needed for the best results.

However, new vessels may appear and we recommend repeating the treatment annually to maintain even skin tone. After the laser treatment, microneedling treatments can be taken up. It takes 3-6 treatments to strengthen the skin. Immediately after treatment the skin may be red, this lasts for up to 24 hours. Cooling is not necessary in this case. Almost everyone resumes their daily activities after these treatments. Immediately after treatment we can camouflage the area with beautiful mineral makeup from Mineralogie.

Even skin with less redness The results

Rosacea is unfortunately not definitively curable, but through treatment, the symptoms can be treated well, greatly improving the condition of the skin. The general redness of the skin decreases and the skin becomes more even. It also prevents the development of new vessels. To maintain good results, we recommend repeating the treatment annually and using proper skincare
