Piercing holes removal

“Say goodbye to your piercing holes.”

Regretting an old piercing hole?

Whether it is to get rid of a youthful impulse or to leave behind a past that is no longer desired, At the Van Rosmalen Clinic we can help you with a variety of problems, even when they may not seem so obvious.

Closing a piercing hole is an indication that is often desired and can be done quite easily by our cosmetic doctors KNMG. Through a small incision (excision), the hole is removed and the skin sutured back together, giving you back smooth, even skin without unwanted piercing holes.

The problem The problem

It may be that you once had a piercing pierced, but later found out that you don’t quite like it. Or it no longer suits your appearance due to age, career or simply because your tastes have changed over the years. Are you tired of your piercing hole in your ear, nose, eyebrow, above your lip or on your chin? A piercing always leaves a small hole visible after you choose not to wear jewelry. This little hole unfortunately remains visible. To remove the piercing hole, a minor surgical procedure is required under local anesthesia.

Treatment Treatment

After a warm welcome and a delicious cup of coffee in our clinic, we begin with a brief consultation and take pictures to properly analyze the piercing hole. These pictures will later serve to clearly see the result of the removal of the piercing hole, but also to assess the healing process in the meantime. The treating doctor will talk through your expectations and the treatment with you beforehand. The area to be treated will be well anesthetized so that you do not have to feel anything from the treatment!

After the anesthesia has worn off, a small incision is made in the skin to be able to remove the hole completely. This incision is then closed with a suture and taped with adhesive plasters.

After treatment After treatment

After treatment to remove a piercing hole, it is important not to apply any pulling force to the treated area. The suture is removed after 7 to 10 days. The duration depends on the indication. For example, a removed piercing hole on the nose takes longer to heal than a piercing hole on the cheek. After the suture and suture patches are removed, a small scar will be visible.

It is important to protect it well with an SPF. This is because proper recovery of the piercing hole scar involves proper sun protection. After about 4 to 6 weeks, a final checkup appointment will be scheduled with you to review the progression.

Result Result

The scar from the piercing hole takes about a year to heal completely. The color of the scar also changes with time. The final final result is not visible until the scar is fully healed. This varies per person, but also how well the scar is protected in the meantime. Of course, even after a few weeks you will see a beautiful difference from how it was.
