Almost everyone gets brown spots over the years, both men and women. These pigmentation spots occur mainly on the face, hands, décolleté and arms. These spots are also called hyperpigmentation or lentigo solaris. Pigmentation can occur when the skin is not properly protected from sunlight. You may also develop pigmentation spots due to medication or PIP (Post Inflammatory Pigmentation). If you are pregnant, the spots may become more severe. Then it is also called pregnancy mask or melasma.

Laser treatments can be very effective, but also, for example, a chemical peel or the cryopen, an instrument that can freeze the spot to the millimeter. We also have a wide range of skin-care cosmeceuticals. These products have a high concentration of active ingredients that will lighten the pigment spots. You can simply use these at home, we are happy to advise you on this. Depending on the type of pigmentation, your skin type and skin tone is determined which treatment is most suitable for you. A combination treatment can also be applied for optimal results

How does IPL/laser treatment to fade pigmentation spots work?

In the treatment: pigmentation spot removal with IPL, the beam of light from the IPL module passes through the skin and the pigment is pulverized into tiny particles. The pigment rises to the surface, causing the pigment spot in question to initially darken in color. After about a week, the pigment can be wiped off the skin as a haze and the spot has faded or even disappeared completely 

When do I choose laser treatment to fade pigmentation spots?

How long does it take to see results after the treatment(s)?

This depends on the type of pigmentation spot, skin type and skin tone. Superficial pigmentation spots will fade quickly, leaving your skin looking radiant again. To permanently remove pigmentation spots, several repeat treatments are required. Our skin therapists will give you more information about this 

Will my skin peel after the treatment(s)?

Your skin will not peel after a laser treatment. It is important that you allow your skin to rest after a laser treatment. The skin therapist treating you will advise you on this and give you various instructions 

How long does it take before I am presentable again after my treatment?

This depends on the extent of the pigmentation. This is because the spots initially darken as the pigment comes to the surface. After about a week, the pigment can be wiped off the skin as a haze and the spot has faded or even disappeared completely. So it varies from person to person, but you just remain presentable 

Can I combine this treatment with other treatments?

The possibility of combining laser treatment with other treatment techniques, is definitely there! If you would like to have several skin areas treated, a peeling or microneedling (RF) treatment can help to fulfill your wishes. If you suffer from wrinkles or red skin, these indications can also be treated. Of course, our skin therapists first look at the condition of your skin before performing any combination treatments.
