Skin irregularities come in many forms, from small bumps and stem warts to larger age-related warts. These benign skin abnormalities can appear anywhere on the body, but are most visible and bothersome when located on the face, neck or trunk.
How does a Cryopen/ Plasmage treatment work?
The treatment
If you want to have skin blemishes treated, you can visit a skin therapist provided you have the right indication. Silent warts, age-related warts, papulosa nigra (patches of skin on dark skin) are all kinds of indications that can be treated with the Cryopen or Plasmage.
Cryopen Treatment
The Cryopen uses liquid nitrogen to freeze skin blemishes quickly and effectively. This process results in the formation of a scab over the treated area. The frozen tissue dies and makes way for new, healthy skin cells. This method is virtually painless and performed within minutes.
Plasmage Treatment
A Plasmage treatment uses a special device that produces a small plasma arc. When the small pin is held just above the skin, it creates a fine jet of charged particles that hit the skin. This plasma energy allows the unwanted spot to be vaporized with extreme precision. This process is accompanied by a sensation of prickling heat. The treated area will become a scab that heals within seven days.

After the treatment
Immediately after the treatment you may experience a slight burning sensation at the treated area. Fortunately, this will go away quickly. A few days after treatment, a scab will form. It is important not to touch it, so the wound healing process is not disturbed and the scab will fall off. The result is then at its best!

The results
The result of treatment with the Cryopen or Plasmage is visible after about one to two weeks. This is due to the scab that will loosen on its own. It is important to properly lubricate the treated area with an SPF 50. The skin imperfections will be nicely remedied. Depending on the indication and desire for improvement, it may be advisable to repeat the treatment one more time. The skin therapist can accurately assess whether a follow-up treatment is necessary or whether only a check-up appointment is sufficient. This will be coordinated with you after your check-up visit.

What does a Cryopen/ plasmage treatment do?
Skin problems such as warts, age-related warts and papulosa nigra (dark spots on the skin) are examples of indications that can be treated using the Cryopen or plasmage. The cryopen uses nitrogen and the plasmage uses plasma energy. Both are used to correct skin imperfections so that the skin becomes beautifully even.
Is a Cryopen/ plasmage painful?
The treatment is generally not experienced as painful. It is possible that certain areas are sensitive and may feel burning, but this will quickly go away.
Are there any side effects with Cryopen/ plasmage treatment?
Side effects are rare and usually mild, such as mild redness and swelling that disappear quickly. Crusting also occurs; this is a normal skin reaction to treatment and usually disappears within two weeks. The treated area may still be a bit itchy or tingly. This also has everything to do with the healing process and is often resolved after a few days.
Is a Cryopen/ plasmage treatment suitable for all skin types?
Yes, this treatment is suitable for all skin types. Dark skin can also be treated beautifully. For example, think of papulosa nigra (patches lying on the skin in dark skin).
How long does it take to see results after a Cryopen/ plasmage treatment?
The result of a plasmage/ cryopen treatment for stem warts, age-related warts, papulosa nigra or other skin blemishes, is not visible immediately after treatment. It usually takes one to two weeks until the result is visible. This is due to the healing process of the spot.
Can Cryopen/ plasmage treatment be done together with another treatment?
Yes, this treatment is great for treating skin blemishes.
