Skincare routine for oily and troubled skin

Do you suffer from oily and troubled skin and would like to bring it back into balance? If you suffer from oily skin, you often also suffer from impurities such as pimples and blackheads. But how do you balance your skin? We tell you in this blog how to effectively tackle oily and troubled skin!

How does oily skin develop?

Oily skin is a skin condition, where the sebaceous glands produce too much sebum. This often causes the skin to become more shiny during the day. Your skin produces sebum every day, which keeps it supple and protects it from drying out. And usually oily skins are less likely to suffer from wrinkles, so this is a win. When the skin cannot handle the large amount of sebum, it causes blemishes. However, shiny skin or specifically the T-zone can be considered troublesome. In addition, it can also happen that you suffer from impurities more quickly. So how do you make sure the skin is balanced again?

Proper skincare products

By using the right skincare products, you ensure that you do not get shiny oily skin and keep impurities limited. It is not the intention to drastically tackle sebum, as its function is to protect the skin from external influences. If too many dead skin cells accumulate, they can block the exit of a pore. As a result, sebum has no way out and the skin will become clogged. If acne bacteria are added to this, the skin can become locally inflamed, causing a pimple. Exfoliating offers the solution to this. By. exfoliating, you allow the sebum from the sebaceous gland to drain properly to be a moisturizer for the skin. Dead skin cells then no longer block the way.

We are going to give you some tools regarding skin care for oily skin.

Step 1 | Cleansing

To remove excess sebum and dirt from the skin, proper cleansing in the morning and evening is a must. This keeps your skin clean and reduces the chance of developing impurities. Consider a cleanser, such as:

Step 2 | Exfoliate

As mentioned earlier, exfoliation reduces the chances of the skin becoming clogged. Glycolic acid causes the skin to renew itself and dead skin cells are removed. In addition, salicylic acid ensures that inflammation is extinguished and sebum is dissolved. If you have very oily skin with a strong tendency toward blemished skin, then a salicylic acid-based exfoliant will suit it well.

Step 3 | Antioxidant

An antioxidant based on pure vitamin C makes the skin more resistant to external influences. Combined with good sun protection, this is the gold standard to start the day with after cleansing. For troubled oily skin, the new SkinCeuticals Silymarin CF offers a solution. This product contains a high concentration of vitamin C (15%), as well as silymarin and salicylic acid, which reduces the likelihood of blemishes forming.

Step 4 | Moisturizer

Sebum itself serves as a moisturizer, but some oily skins do produce a lot of sebum. You want to keep this in balance, which is why it is often thought that this skin type does not need a day or night cream. Moisturizing is also important for oily skin. In fact, oily skin can also become dehydrated, making it in need of hydration. Hyaluronic acid or niacinamide are very nice ingredients for this skin type:

  • SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 is hyaluronic acid-based and absorbs quickly into the skin. It is also a fat-free emulsion;
  • Universkin Nexultra H is also based on hyaluronic acid, with a concentration of 1.4%!
  • SkinCeuticals Metacell Renewal B3 is based on niacinamide. Niacinamide is a multifunctional ingredient that hydrates but also regulates sebum production;

Step 5 | Mask

About once or twice a week it is also very nice to apply a cleansing and caring mask. Purely to pamper the skin and dissolve impurities. The choice here may fall on:
