Beauty myths unraveled!

We all know them the questionable beauty tips. You often get the advice unsolicited and the Internet is full of it. But what exactly is true, and what is not? Read it here beauty myths unraveled!

Use sunscreen only in sunny weather

Myth! You use sunscreen on your skin to reduce sun damage. Sun damage is caused by UVA and UVB radiation from the sun. Even on non-sunny days, the sun emits this radiation. It is therefore important to always use a sun protection with at least SPF30 and on sunny days SPF50. The Dermaceutic Sun Ceutic is a fine gentle sun protection with SPF50 which restores the skin retroactively.  The Dermaceutic Sun Ceutic is very light which makes it easy to mix with your day care or make up. You then make your own BB Cream!

Women are more sensitive to pigmentation

Fact! Unfortunately, it is indeed true that women are more susceptible to pigmentation spots than men. This is due to women’s changing hormones.  Changes in hormone levels can cause hypersensitivity. This can manifest itself in impurities and, unfortunately, in the production of pigment. It is therefore very important to properly protect the skin with a good sunscreen so that you prevent the formation of pigment. Changes in hormones can have various causes such as pregnancy, menopause but also menstruation or stress.

Smiling and rubbing your eyes will give you wrinkles

This myth is partially true.  It is the combination of expression in your face and the loss of collagen and elasticity of the skin which eventually causes the wrinkles. The skin around your eyes is finer than the rest of your face, and is therefore more mobile when laughing and rubbing your eyes. Rubbing your eyes vigorously once therefore gives the impression that the skin is wrinkled, but due to the elasticity of the skin this slowly recedesIf elasticity decreases with age, then laugh lines often remain on the face without you smiling. So the cause of wrinkles around the eyes is the combination of both.

Toothpaste and tanning is the ideal remedy for pimples

Myth! Toothpaste on a pimple dries out the skin. As a result, a it may appear to go away faster. The products in toothpaste are not made for your face and therefore can cause irritation. This makes the skin less likely to heal and can leave you with a scar. The best cure for pimples and acne is prevention. Through exfoliations and proper skin care, you can prevent pimples and toothpaste can be used nicely for teeth. The story that sun or tanning beds will reduce blemishes is also definitely a myth. The sun and tanning beds dry out the skin, causing it to produce extra sebum and fat to prevent dehydration. This excessive sebum production actually causes additional impurities in the skin. So the sun and tanning beds actually cause impurities to come back worse.

Oily skin does not need hydration

Myth! Oily skin can very well be dehydrated. It is often thought that creams make the skin even oilier. It may be the case that oily skin is out of balance, it can then be well regulated by using the right skincare. The skincare of Dermaceutic and Renophase is ideal for regulating the skin condition. In addition, it is also extremely important to hydrate the skin from within by drinking enough water.

If you do not use make-up, you do not need to cleanse your skin.

Myth! Cleansing the skin is essential for radiant skin. External factors such as sun and air pollution create a layer on the skin over the course of the day, also known as cornification of the skin. This cornification can cause a dull and sallow complexion. In addition, the cornification can close the pores, causing inflammation in the skin. Therefore, it is very important to cleanse the skin twice daily for skin vitality. Easy and quick ways to cleanse the skin are with a face wash or facial foam. The Dermaceutic Foamer15 is a gentle cleanser that gently exfoliates the skin. Foamer15 removes dead skin cells and ensures maximum absorption of skin care.
