I have a question about fillers

What are fillers? What are fillers?

Fillers fall under the category of injectables. Most fillers are based on the body’s own hyaluronic acid and will always be completely broken down again by your body. Due to their temporary nature, the effect will slowly diminish.

What can fillers do for me? What can fillers do for me?

With fillers, we can correct the loss of volume in your face and fill in wrinkles, causing them to fade or even disappear. The lines in your face soften, fewer shadows fall on your face, and you get a younger, fresher look.

Why do I need to come for a consultation first? Why do I need to come for a consultation first?

First of all, we would like to invite you to our clinic for a free and non-committal consultation. During this consultation, our cosmetic physicians (KNMG certified) will have a conversation with you to discuss and determine the best solution that aligns with your desired improvements. Photos of your face will also be taken during the consultation, and an extensive facial and skin analysis will be conducted according to the Confidence Booster® standard by our specialist. Based on your photos and the facial and skin analysis, the quality and firmness of your skin, facial anatomy, and degree of aging will be assessed. Ultimately, you will receive advice in the form of a personalized treatment plan.

How does a dermal filler treatment look like? How does a dermal filler treatment look like?

First, an appointment is scheduled for a dermal filler treatment. We always ask you to arrive slightly earlier so that you can calmly review and sign the treatment agreement for the dermal filler procedure, and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. Subsequently, the treating physician will go through everything with you one more time, and the treatment can begin. As the first step, the treated area will be locally numbed. Additionally, in our clinic, we use fillers that already contain a local anesthetic, so you don’t have to worry about whether a dermal filler treatment will be painful. Then, a small puncture hole is made, through which the filler can be injected into the skin using a cannula, which is a safer alternative to a needle. The cannula has a rounded tip instead of a sharp point, which reduces the risk of bruising and allows any swelling to subside more quickly. Once the cannula is inserted, the filler can be injected into the tissue through the hollow needle. The results of a dermal filler treatment are immediately visible. However, there may be some swelling or bruising, which is completely normal and usually subsides after a few days. Depending on the type of treatment, the treating physician typically spends 30 to 45 minutes on the procedure. After the treatment, a follow-up appointment is scheduled, usually two to four weeks later, so that any swelling or bruising has fully resolved, and the final results are visible. Dermal fillers usually last between 8 to 24 months and are gradually naturally absorbed by the body. This depends on the type of filler, the treated area, and how frequently you have had fillers in that area before. To maintain the best and longest-lasting results, we recommend coming back for a touch-up early on, so that you can enjoy a beautiful result for months to come!

What is the difference between fillers and botox? What is the difference between fillers and botox?

Botox and fillers are both injectables aimed at improving the skin and anatomy of the face. The main difference between Botox and fillers lies in the fact that fillers fill in wrinkles, grooves or lines and Botulinum Toxin causes your muscles to relax. As a result, wrinkles will disappear or fade and your skin will look smoother.

While Botox does not create volume, fillers do. They “fill in” areas of your face where you want more volume. We can fill up your lips, fill up your cheekbones, fill up your sunken temples, fill up your cheeks or fill up the droopy skin around your eyes, but we can also remove acne scars or correct your nose without surgery.

What is hyaluronic acid? What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a protein that occurs naturally in our bodies. It is part of our skin and provides hydration. Also, it is a main component of the fluid that allows our joints to move smoothly and provides processes such as wound healing and volume, among others.

Should I fear an unnatural result? Should I fear an unnatural result?

At the Van Rosmalen Clinic, we go for a natural result at all times. We ensure that you become a more beautiful version of yourself, without losing your unique look. Therefore, we look closely at your natural face shape. We give you honest, personal advice and draw up a treatment plan together.

Is filler treatment painful? Is filler treatment painful?

Our clients do not experience a filler treatment as painful. The liquid of the filler contains anesthesia, so you actually only briefly feel the first prick. After that, the area to be treated is numbed. Only in very sensitive areas, such as the lips, an additional anesthetic is applied, similar to a dental anesthetic. This wears off 30 minutes later.

How long does a treatment take? How long does a treatment take?

In total, the treatment takes about half an hour.

Am I immediately presentable again after the treatment? Am I immediately presentable again after the treatment?

There may be some redness, swelling or blue discoloration around the injection site after treatment. You can camouflage this with a little makeup and continue with your daily activities.

How long does it take for filler treatment to be visible? How long does it take for filler treatment to be visible?

After two to three weeks, the result of the treatment is optimal, but some of our clients notice a difference after just a few days. This depends on the body’s reaction to the treatment. For example, swelling may occur, with recovery time varying from person to person.

How long do fillers last? How long do fillers last?

Treatment with fillers provides a beautiful correction between 18 to 24 months, depending on the type of filler and treatment area. After this, the effect will slowly diminish. We therefore recommend that you come back once a year for a touch-up.

Are there any risks associated with filler treatment? Are there any risks associated with filler treatment?

The fillers we use at the Van Rosmalen Kliniek are extremely safe. Moreover, hyaluronic acid is naturally present in your body, so the chance of an allergic reaction is very small. The risk of complications is therefore virtually zero.

We do recommend that you do not undergo any beauty or other cosmetic treatments other than those advised by the clinic in the first two weeks after the filler placement. For the first five days, avoid bright sun, be careful with touching the skin, wait with makeup until a few hours after treatment, and take it easy on sports for the first day.

Can the filler change shape, for example, when I sleep? Can the filler change shape, for example, when I sleep?

No, the fillers used by the Van Rosmalen Kliniek are specially designed to retain their shape. Even when pushed firmly.

Will my face sag after the fillers wear off? Will my face sag after the fillers wear off?

Due to ingrowth of tissue into the filler where it is placed, the filler stays completely in place. The swelling after treatment may sag a bit, however, making it appear as if the filler did not stay in place. Once this has subsided, the result of the filler will only be assessable.

Will my wrinkles get worse once the filler wears off? Will my wrinkles get worse once the filler wears off?

Fillers are not heavy in the skin, so your skin does not stretch up or out. In addition, the filler stimulates collagen, making the skin firmer. In short: precisely because of the filler, your skin recovers and can have more than before. If facial filler treatment is not repeated, the face will slowly return to its old shape and lines.

I have a question about botox

What is botox? What is botox?

Botox®is a registered brand name of Allergan Inc. but it is now popularly used for all types of Botulin Toxin. Botulinum Toxin is a protein produced by the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum. It causes your muscles to relax temporarily by blocking stimulus transmission from a nerve to a muscle.

How does botox work? How does botox work?

Botox is injected in a highly diluted form into the muscles responsible for such things as frown lines, crow’s feet and wrinkles in your forehead. The muscle activity is temporarily reduced in the treated area. As a result, fine lines disappear and deep wrinkles fade away. A botox treatment can even prevent wrinkle formation in this way. Over time, muscle activity increases again and the muscle recovers completely.

What does a botox treatment look like? What does a botox treatment look like?

In our clinics in Rotterdam, Nijmegen, and The Hague, our certified cosmetic physicians offer you a botox treatment with a natural result.

During your visit to our clinic, photos will be taken first, followed by a preparatory consultation to discuss your desires. Together with the physician, a personalized treatment plan will be created. After this non-binding appointment, you can schedule an appointment for the treatment. During the treatment, a few injections will be placed in the targeted area, causing the muscles that create the lines to relax. The treatment takes a few minutes and is virtually painless, as the skin is cooled during the botox treatment.

After the treatment, there may be some redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites. Makeup can be used to camouflage this. The effects of the treatment will naturally wear off after four to six months, depending on the type of botox, the treated area, and how often you have used botox before. To maintain a beautiful and long-lasting result, we recommend repeating the treatment at certain intervals. We will be happy to provide you with more information about this at the clinic.

Why do I need to come for a consultation first? Why do I need to come for a consultation first?

Ultimately, you will receive advice in the form of a personalized treatment plan.

When do I choose botox? When do I choose botox?

Would you like something done about your frown lines, are you tired of the wrinkles in your forehead or are your crow’s feet or laugh lines – no matter how charming – now really getting a little too deep? Then botox is a good solution. In addition to cosmetic indications, botox is also great for medical treatments such as excessive perspiration, tension headaches, acne, rosacea and eczema. It can even help with teeth grinding and clenching jaws or molars.

Is a botox treatment painful? Is a botox treatment painful?

Botox is injected into the skin with a very fine needle. Most people describe it as tiny pinpricks and do not experience it as painful.

How long does a treatment last? How long does a treatment last?

From start to finish, an appointment takes about half an hour. The botox treatment itself takes a maximum of 10 minutes.

What are the risks of botox treatment? What are the risks of botox treatment?

Botox treatment is safe. Nevertheless, in some cases the treatment may not turn out exactly as intended. In this exceptional situation we offer you a solution to still achieve the desired result. There is no charge for this; it is part of the check-up appointment. To minimize the risks and and to maintain a natural result, we always choose a minimum dosage.

Am I immediately presentable after the treatment? Am I immediately presentable after the treatment?

Yes. Some redness and swelling may occur shortly after treatment, or a small bruise at the injection site. You can touch this up with some makeup. Treatment with botox does not leave visible bruises or wounds. However, it is important not to apply pressure to the injected area for eight hours after the treatment to prevent spreading.

What is microbotox and is it for me? What is microbotox and is it for me?

Microbotox is also called “baby botox. This is because microbotox uses a lower dosage. The exact dosage depends entirely on what suits your face. For example, it is suitable for softening first lines at a younger age, and preventing permanent wrinkles, such as crow’s feet.

Microbotox reduces the deepest wrinkles during laughter and smoothes the skin slightly when you look relaxed. Your expressive smile and natural appearance is therefore maintained; when you are not smiling, your skin looks smoother and softer. It is an ideal way to slow the aging process at a younger age, and if you are a little older, microbotox can give wonderful results when combined with fillers, especially around the eyes. Microbotox may work a little shorter than regular botox – usually 2 to 3 months – , but it does provide a very natural result

What is the cost of a botox treatment? What is the cost of a botox treatment?

I have a question about peelings

What is an exfoliation? What is an exfoliation?

A peel is a form of exfoliation that involves peeling (hence the name, peeling) the top layer of the skin, so to speak. This is done using alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxy acids. Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) is a collective term for organic acids that stimulate the exfoliation of your skin and accelerate the cell cycle. Examples include glycolic acid (from sugar cane), lactic acid, mandelic acid and fruit acids. Beta hydroxy acid (BHA) is an umbrella term for a special type of organic acids.

In the cosmetic world, only salicylic acid is used. This acid, unlike alpha hydroxy acids, is not water-soluble, but fat-soluble. That makes BHA perfect for oily and problem skin. The peels you can do at the Van Rosmalen Kliniek are called chemical peels or cosmetic peels.

How does a chemical peel work? How does a chemical peel work?

A chemical peel can penetrate several layers of the skin. How deep the peel goes depends on your needs and the type of peel our skin therapists recommend. Your skin responds to a peel by triggering different, natural repair mechanisms. That process causes skin turnover, cell renewal and skin firming.

What is the result of a chemical peel? What is the result of a chemical peel?

The result of a chemical or cosmetic peel is a noticeably more beautiful skin texture. You regain your fresh skin tone, pigment spots, scars, coarse pores and fine wrinkles disappear, your dermis becomes firmer due to the production of collagen and your skin is deeply cleansed.

In short, an amazing and painless boost to your skin, which feels soft and smooth again. You get a beautiful, natural glow.

Why should I do a peel? Why should I do a peel?

Peelings are suitable for tackling various skin problems and a very effective method for making your skin look young and radiant again. Skin aging, pigmentation spots, age spots, sun damage and acne scars are very well treatable with peeling(s).

The depth of the skin layers the peel penetrates depends on the type of ingredients we use and your specific skin problem. Our skin therapists will inform you in detail about this. You will be surprised how much results you can achieve with these relatively simple treatments!

Can I combine the peel with other treatments? Can I combine the peel with other treatments?

You can easily combine a cosmetic peel with an injectables treatment or a laser treatment with us. Peelings are part of our various anti-aging and skin improvement treatments. The combination with other treatments often provides an even more beautiful result.

What kind of peels are there? What kind of peels are there?

Because every skin is different, at the Van Rosmalen Kliniek you can choose from several types of peels, each with a different effect and intensity. You can choose a superficial, a medium-deep or a deep peel. It depends on what you want to tackle: pigmentation, fine wrinkles, (acne) scars, active acne or pimples.

The bottom line is that our peelings improve skin quality through cell renewal. The complexion evens out, sebum production comes back into balance and skin texture is refined.

Which peel is right for me? Which peel is right for me?

Of course, which peel is best for you depends on your needs and/or specific skin problem. Maybe you want to address something that has bothered you for years, maybe you opt purely for an anti-aging treatment. A single, superficial peel or just a series of deep peels? Our experienced skin therapists can advise you perfectly during a personal, free skin analysis at the clinic.

Will my skin peel after exfoliation? Will my skin peel after exfoliation?

It depends on which peel you take. With some peels, the skin will not peel, but it will still feel warm and tingly for a few hours. With deeper peelings, your skin will start to peel quite a bit in the days after, but that’s just the point. It is a sign that the peel has done its job and your skin is renewing itself.

How do I care for my skin after a peel? How do I care for my skin after a peel?

It is important to allow your skin to rest after treatment. Avoid peeling creams and scrub creams for the first period, avoid bright sun, massages at the beautician’s and other beauty treatments. You will receive detailed instructions from our skin therapists on what to do and what not to do. They can also advise you on the skin care products we use and sell at the clinic.

Will my skin become thinner after a peel? Will my skin become thinner after a peel?

You would think that your skin would become thinner after the top layer of dead skin cells is peeled off. However, this is only temporary. The natural repair process actually makes your top skin layer thicker, more elastic and healthier again after a peeling.

What is the difference between microdermabrasion and a chemical peel? What is the difference between microdermabrasion and a chemical peel?

A chemical peel cannot be compared to a microdermabrasion treatment. In a microdermabrasion treatment, the top layer of the skin is “ground off. In the process, unfortunately, good cell connections are also removed, ultimately making the skin thinner. Our chemical peels only break the connection between dead cells, not living cells. Thus, it does not make the skin thinner.

What is the cost of a peel? What is the cost of a peel?

I have a question about the Cosmo Peel Forte

How many treatments are needed for the desired results? How many treatments are needed for the desired results?

One treatment is enough; you may only undergo an average of one per year.

Is my skin suitable? Is my skin suitable?

The Cosmo Peel Forte is mainly suitable for thicker and firm skin. There will first be a consultation with the skin therapist to determine whether your skin is suitable for this treatment. Also, the Cosmo Peel Forte will never be used as the first treatment.

Cosmo Peel Forte Why do I need specific treatments or products before undergoing Cosmo Peel Forte?

With this treatment a good preparation is of great importance, in this way we can work safely and achieve the most predictable result possible. The Cosmo Peel Forte contains high doses of active substances, therefore it is important to let the skin get used to these substances prior to the peeling. This can be done through skin treatments at our clinic and by using skin care products that contain the following active ingredients: AHA (fruit acids), BHA (salicylic acid) or retinol (vitamin A acid). The skin therapist will tell you all about this during the consultation.

Why should I not be tanned or use self-tanner before the treatment? Why should I not be tanned or use self-tanner before the treatment?

The result of the treatment can be negatively affected if the skin is tanned by the sun, tanning bed or self-tanner. This is due to the activation of pigment cells in the skin. The skin therapist can work with you to determine when it is safe to undergo the peel. If you are still too tanned on the day of treatment, it will be postponed.

How long does a Cosmo Peel Forte last? How long does a Cosmo Peel Forte last?

The treatment lasts between 45 and 60 minutes.

Can I go out in the sun shortly after treatment? Can I go out in the sun shortly after treatment?

The skin is very sensitive after the treatment, so it is advised to avoid the sun. Also, in the initial period after treatment, sunscreen application is mandatory. For best protection, use a combination of an antioxidant and a sunscreen. Note that hyper- or hypopigmentation (dark and/or light spots) may occur with sun-tanned skin, skin not protected with SPF or some medications. The skin may remain pink and sensitive for a long time after treatment and should continue to be properly protected even then to minimize the risk of pigmentation.

How long will it take for me to be presentable again after treatment? How long will it take for me to be presentable again after treatment?

After treatment, the skin is red and swollen. The swelling may persist for up to three days after treatment. After three to four days, the skin begins to flake and brown sheets appear. This lasts for about a week and a half from the treatment.

After two weeks, the flaking will be gone and you will not see any more of this. About two to four weeks after the peeling, you may still experience redness with heat, this is a normal reaction of the recovery process.

I have a question about laser treatments

What is laser treatment? What is laser treatment?

What types of laser treatments are there? What types of laser treatments are there?

We work with different types of treatments that focus on a particular goal in the skin. I have a question about microneedling

What is microneedling? What is microneedling?

Microneedling means that we use a special device with vibrating, tiny needles (the Enterpen) to create tiny channels in the skin. These channels are not visible to the naked eye. Through microneedling, the natural repair of the skin is initiated. Deep in the skin, the connective tissue cells receive a stimulus to create new connective tissue fibers, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.

Why choose microneedling? Why choose microneedling?

Microneedling firms the skin, making wrinkles and fine lines less visible. It is therefore an effective remedy for skin aging, but also helps against red veins and relief caused by acne and scars. Depending on the skin problem you want to correct, we recommend a course of several treatments. The result is visible after several weeks, as the healing process of the skin needs time.

Is microneedling painful? Is microneedling painful?

Treatment with the Enterpen produces a slight sharp sensation, but is not comparable to needle sticking.

Am I immediately presentable again after the treatment? Am I immediately presentable again after the treatment?

After treatment the skin turns a little red, this is normal and will disappear in about two days. Your skin may flake slightly after treatment, this is because new cells are being produced. It is important to limit direct exposure to UV radiation as much as possible after treatment.

What is the cost of a microneedling treatment? What is the cost of a microneedling treatment?

I have a question about cosmeceuticals

What are cosmeceuticals? What are cosmeceuticals?

At the Van Rosmalen Kliniek we work exclusively with skin care products from top brands, so-called cosmeceuticals. Cosmeceuticals are skin care products that address specific skin problems more effectively than the more common cosmetics.

A cosmeceutical is halfway between regular creams you buy in stores and prescription creams. The former act mainly on the upper layer of the skin, while cosmeceuticals act mainly on the deeper layers of the skin. As a result, they address specific skin problems more effectively.
