Here’s what you can do about rosacea!

How nice would it be if you no longer had to camouflage your red blushing cheeks? Or maybe you suffer from skin vessels in other areas of your face with a red to blue/purple color? Often, rosacea starts with a few burst blood vessels and gradually expands. It then begins to become more visible and is often considered disturbing. Fortunately, we can treat this and autumn is the perfect season to start!

What do we know about rosacea?

Rosacea is a skin condition in which the small blood vessels in the face are clearly visible. The blood vessels are often seen more quickly in light and thin skin. This is because with rosacea, wide blood vessels lie close to the surface of the skin, often giving the skin a red to blue/purple color. This means you may suffer from red and flushed cheeks, for example. In addition, rosacea can also occur on your nose, forehead, chin or even the entire body. Especially after sun damage, you often see rosacea developing on the cleavage. The visible little vessels can be a sign of sun damage. Sometimes the veins can cause some symptoms such as tingling, itching or a burning sensation. Despite the fact that this condition is very harmless, many people find it very disturbing. Exactly how rosacea develops is unknown, but we do know what factors can affect it:

  • UV radiation;
  • cold and inclement weather;
  • genetics;
  • excessive alcohol consumption;
  • temperature fluctuation;
  • chronic use of corticosteroid-containing creams or ointments.

Some facts at a glance:

  • Research shows that red blood vessels increase by 1.7% per year with advancing age.
  • Women generally have 18.3% more red blood vessels than men.
  • Smokers on average have 38.5% more red blood vessels than non-smokers.
  • Skins sensitive to sunburn have 10.2% more red blood vessels than skins with little or no sunburn sensitivity.

Treatment of rosacea

Luckily, rosacea is easy to treat with our GLOW Sensitive combination treatment! This combination treatment is the perfect combination of treatments and the latest techniques. In one session we apply multiple techniques and treat different skin areas separately according to needs. Not only will the GLOW Sensitive combination treatment reduce or even eliminate your rosacea, this treatment also helps combat redness, eczema or rosacea and calm irritated skin. Treatment against rosacea includes laser / IPL treatment. The heat generated in the blood vessel solidifies the proteins. This causes the blood vessel to collapse, so you often see immediate results during treatment. It can also happen that the vein becomes darker at first. This disappears after about a week.

What can you do yourself to prevent red blood vessels?

By protecting the skin properly you ensure that the skin barrier remains intact and less cell damage is caused. Antioxidants ensure that free radicals created by the influence of sunlight, visible light (screens), ozone and air pollution are neutralized. The neutralization prevents cell damage. Highly recommended is the C E Ferulic from SkinCeuticals. This antioxidant contains a high concentration of vitamins C and E. Vitamin E provides a protective layer around the cell membrane. Extra protection, in other words! For the evening, SkinCeuticals’ Resveratrol B E is a very nice product. It is a patented night serum with a maximized concentration of pure antioxidants that strengthens the skin’s own defense system. In addition to using an antioxidant, an SPF is very important! Consider the Dermaceutic Derma Defense DD-cream or the SkinCeuticals Ultra Facial Defense SPF50.
