Skin Deep Anatomy: course Erasmus MC

Last Saturday, the 5th edition of Skin Deep Anatomy took place at the Skillslab of Erasmus MC in Rotterdam! For five years, the Van Rosmalen Kliniek has been the only clinic in the Netherlands that gives these hands-on injectable trainings on cadavers to other (cosmetic) doctors in a unique way. The anatomy of each face is different and therefore each treatment plan is also different for each person. Through our years of experience, we know exactly how and where to place a filler for the most beautiful and long-lasting results! It is therefore very interesting for other specialists to be trained by our doctors.

What is Skin Deep Anatomy?

Skin Deep Anatomy is organized by doctor Annemarie van Rosmalen, together with our other doctors of the Van Rosmalen Kliniek, to bring the anatomical knowledge to a higher level. But of course also to make injectable treatments even safer and achieve the best results for our clients. It is a unique practical training for all kinds of colleagues in the Netherlands who want to further their skills in cosmetic medicine and to be able to test practical knowledge on cadaveric treatments. The common thread of the Skin Deep Anatomy course consists of facial anatomy combined with technique and is based on scientific insights and years of experience of certified cosmetic doctors KNMG and dermatologists.

Everything for the best and most long-lasting results

The goal of any cosmetic treatment is to achieve natural and long-lasting results. To maintain your authenticity, it is hugely important for doctors to look at the facial expressions and dynamics. Therefore, during hands-on training in the Skillslab, daily treatments are practiced, allowing us to see exactly how best to address, for example, a tighter jawline, sunken cheeks or filling tear ducts. This is enormously interesting for doctors to improve their knowledge and skills regarding facial anatomy. Colored fillers are used in the training. By preparing the face freely after the filler treatment, we can see exactly where and in which depth layers we placed the filler. By combining theory and a practical training, we raise each other’s level to achieve the best results for our clients!

Collaboration with other specialists

In this edition, training was given by Doctor Leonie Schelke and Doctor Peter Velthuis on the use of the ultrasound in cosmetic treatments. The ultrasound is used at our clinic to determine the correct amount and depth during some treatments, as well as to locate blood vessels, nerves and permanent or temporary fillers. This allows for safe and better treatment. We would like to thank Doctor Leonie Schelke and Doctor Peter Velthuis once again for their expertise and contribution during this educational day!
