This is why an antioxidant should not be missing in your skincare routine!

An SPF, better known as sunblock, is one of the most important products that should not be missing in your skincare routine. But did you know that an antioxidant is just as important to optimally protect your skin from harmful influences?

How does skin damage form?

Our skin receives many harmful influences from the outdoors every day. If we do not protect our skin enough, this can have major consequences. An SPF is known to protect against ultraviolet rays, or in other words against damage that the sun can do to the skin. While a high-factor SPF can do a good job of protecting the skin from these harmful influences, an SPF unfortunately does not provide sufficient protection against infrared radiation. This allows free radicals such as smog, exhaust fumes and smoke to enter the skin, which results in cell damage. Pigmentation spots, premature skin aging or even skin cancer can be a consequence of this cell damage.

How can you prevent this skin damage?

These so-called free radicals are aggressive substances that must be dealt with if you want to prevent them from causing cell damage. To properly protect your skin from free radicals, you must be able to neutralize them by applying an antioxidant to the skin. Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is one such powerful antioxidant. Meanwhile, there are plenty of dietary supplements or certain foods that contain vitamin C, but the most effective is to apply it directly to the right place to properly protect the skin. This in fact ensures that the skin becomes healthy and resilient to external influences.

An antioxidant for every skin type!

Every skin is different and has a different structure. It is important to first find out what type of skin you have in order to find a suitable antioxidant. In the picture below you see four different skin types: normal, dry, oily and combination skin. Not sure what skin type you have? Then look carefully at the characteristics listed under each skin type.
