Forehead dent filling

Do you have a dent or irregularity in your forehead? These are often natural variations in skull anatomy, which can become more noticeable as the skin loses volume with age.

Fortunately, fillers can smooth out lines, giving you a fresher and healthier look while keeping your natural appearance intact.

Does a hollow or dent in your forehead bother you?

You may be bothered by a hollowing, flattening or dent in the forehead. There are several reasons for the appearance of a hollowing or dent in the forehead.

When you visit our clinic, our cosmetic physicians KNMG will first determine the cause of the hollowing or dent to determine if treatment is appropriate. If you notice a sudden change in your skull shape, we recommend that you make an appointment with your doctor.

Fill a dent in the forehead with fillers

Have you always suffered from a dent in the forehead? If so, it may be due to the shape of your skull. Dents and irregularities in the skull are simply variations in anatomy. Everyone has variations in bone structure, just as everyone has a different face.

Sometimes babies are born with a skull indentation. These indentations can be caused by the birth process or by the way the baby was placed in the mother’s womb. Sometimes you don’t see any of this as an adult, but it may still bother you. Fortunately, filler treatment can help in many cases.

Sagging of the eyebrow

As we age, the skeleton shrinks and our skin loses firmness and volume. This often occurs in the region around the eyebrows. The support for the eyebrow falls away, causing the eyebrows to sag and creating a hollow, or dent, above the eyebrows.

A hollow above the eyebrow

By filling in the area around the dent above the eyebrows, the eyebrow regains support, eliminating the sagging of the eyebrows. Lines and wrinkles may also appear in the forehead due to the raising of the eyebrows. By repairing the hollowness and lines on the forehead with fillers, you get a fresher and healthier look without losing your authenticity.

Causes of a dent in the forehead The problem

Over the years, you may notice a hollowing above your eyebrows. This is caused by the natural aging process; the skeleton shrinks and our skin loses firmness and volume. Thus, hollowing can occur in different places. For example, you can see this in sunken temples, sunken cheeks, or a hollow in the forehead above the eyebrow.

You may also have an indentation or dent in your forehead from childhood that you would like to get rid of. In this case, the aging process has nothing to do with the dent, but you may suffer from a cranial indentation.

An ultrasound of the hollow or dent

In order to see what is causing the dent in the forehead and whether it can be filled by a filler treatment, we first make an ultrasound of the forehead during a free, no-obligation consultation.

We often use ultrasound to map the anatomy of the face. Once the indentation or dent in the forehead is located and the cause is known, a safe treatment plan can be created. Research has shown that the use of ultrasound significantly reduces the risk of filler complications. It also contributes to optimal aesthetic results.

After we welcome you at our clinic, there will be a brief, preparatory conversation and we will take pictures to later see the results of before and after treatment. Then the treatment begins, where filler is placed in and around the hollow or dent through a cannula, a hollow needle. Placing filler at the site of the flattening or dent creates more volume. This allows us to fill the dent, so to speak.

We use a hyaluronic acid-based filler to create volume and beautiful contours. How much filler we use depends on the area to be treated. Because there is anesthesia in the filler, the treatment is painless and quick. The treatment takes about half an hour.

After the forehead filler treatment After treatment

After treatment, some redness, swelling or blue discoloration may occur around the injection site. This simply goes away after a few days and can be camouflaged with some makeup. It is important not to massage the treated area for the first few days. We recommend avoiding bright sun and other beauty treatments for the days after filling the hollow or dent.

A more symmetrical face The result

Everyone recovers differently from treatment with fillers. Generally, you can see results immediately after treatment, but after a month the results are at their best. After treatment, the hollowing, flattening or dent in the forehead will be filled and you will have a more symmetrical, more beautiful face. The area around the eyebrows also receives more support with this treatment, creating the effect of an eyebrow elevator, so to speak.

Fillers are non-permanent, or temporary. In our experience, the effect is at its best for about nine to 12 months, after which the effect will slowly fade. Do you want to enjoy the result as long as possible? Then we recommend repeating the treatment after about 12 months. Injectables can in fact give an increasingly long-lasting result when you repeat the treatment with some regularity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a consultation important before treating a forehead dent with fillers?

A personal consultation at Van Rosmalen Kliniek is essential to ensure the treatment is both safe and tailored to your needs. During this appointment:

  • One of our KNMG-certified cosmetic doctors assesses your facial anatomy and skin quality.

  • We perform an ultrasound scan to examine underlying structures, such as blood vessels or any previous filler.

  • We discuss your wishes and determine whether filler is the best option for your forehead dent.

This careful approach helps us deliver safe, effective, and natural-looking results.

What is the role of ultrasound in this filler treatment?

Ultrasound is a valuable tool used during the consultation to:

  • Visualize the underlying anatomy, including blood vessels and tissue structure

  • Check for any previously placed fillers in the area

  • Guide the treatment plan, ensuring precise and safe filler placement

At Van Rosmalen Kliniek, we use ultrasound to minimize risk and maximize precision, especially in delicate areas like the forehead.

How is the forehead dent filler treatment performed?

The treatment is quick, safe, and performed with precision:

  • After cleansing the area, pre-treatment photos are taken.

  • A hyaluronic acid-based filler is gently injected using a blunt-tip cannula, which is safer and less invasive than a traditional needle.

  • The filler contains a mild anesthetic, making the treatment virtually painless.

In just 30 minutes, the dent is softened, leaving the forehead looking smoother and more balanced.

How long does the procedure of the forehead filler treatment take?

The procedure, including the consultation and filler treatment, takes around 30 minutes.

What is the recovery time after forehead dent filler treatment?

Recovery is typically short and mild. After treatment, you may notice:

  • Light redness or swelling, which usually fades within a few days

  • Mild bruising, which can be covered with makeup after 24 hours

Most clients feel comfortable returning to daily activities immediately after the treatment.

How long will the results of the forehead filler treatment last?

The results of a forehead filler treatment usually last between 9 to 12 months, depending on:

  • Your skin type and metabolism

Can you combine the forehead filler treatment with other treatments?

Yes, it is possible to combine the forehead filler treatment with other treatments. Depending on your goals, we may recommend combining forehead filler with:

  • Botox for forehead wrinkles – To relax overactive muscles and reduce expression lines, while filler smooths out volume loss.

  • Temple fillers – To address hollowing on the sides of the forehead, improving contour and balance.

  • Cheek fillers – To restore midface volume, which complements the lifted look of a filled forehead.
