Botox frown lines

After we have received you at our clinic, pictures will be taken and a preliminary consultation will follow to go over your wishes. Together with you, the doctor will draw up a personal treatment plan. The consultation is completely non-committal. Then you can schedule an appointment to undergo treatment. During the treatment we inject with a very thin needle Botox in the frown lines and frown area.  

Botox is a water-thin liquid that is absorbed directly into the tissue as an anesthetic. This reduces muscle activity and calms the skin. Often botox is enough to make the frown line disappear, but in some cases additional support in the form of fillers such as Juvéderm, Radiesse or Belotero is needed in the wrinkle. The wrinkle has then become too deep and needs filler to be softened, otherwise it will still look like you look angry. A frown wrinkle treatment is not painful. After the frown line treatment there may be some redness or swelling at the site of the punctures for the first half hour. In some cases, a small blue discoloration can be seen. If necessary, you can immediately camouflage this discoloration with makeup. It is important not to massage the treated area for eight hours after the treatment, as the product may spread to the muscle next to it, giving an undesirable result.  

Some people may experience headaches in the first few days after treatment. This is because not all the fibers have relaxed yet, which can trigger headaches. This is gone after a short time and pain medication may be taken for this. After one to two weeks the best results can be seen. The skin has then fully recovered and the “stiff” feeling, experienced by some, diminishes. After two to three months, the product is broken down again by the body. However, the effect of the treatment may last longer because the skin has rested for a longer period of time and you unlearn the unconscious frowning.
